IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONNECT AND USE A CD-ROM DEVICE WITH MY OLD (VERY OLD!) 2090
HD CONTROLLER. IT HAS 2 SCSI
(OH, WRONG IT'S ONLY ONE) CONNECTORS. THANKS FOR ANY REPLY
Frank,
As far as I know, it is not possible to connect a CDRom to an A2090. The
software interface used on the A2090/A2090A is different compared to the
"standard" interface used in the A2091 and most other manufacturers of
SCSI host adapters. I haven't heard of any CDRom drivers working with the
older standard used on the A2090 board.
For this reason alone I haven't bothered trying to hook up a CDRom drive
to my A2090A. I am about to remove the A2090A and replace it with a used
A2091. I'll be able to use CDRom drives, and use big hard drives much
easier.
So you may have to look for a different SCSI host adaptor.
