#Diamond Vid Card Conflic
6 messages in this thread
I just installed the Diamond Speedstar 64 ISA card in my PC and now Animator
refuses to load even in VGA mode. All I get is the gray frame for the splash
screen and then it hoses.
Any thoughts on the matter?

so… Windows does come up okay but AAS doesn't? check the date on the
drivers… Diamond does have a forum here which may have later drivers. i have
the same card on a system of mine and it works fine.

Hi Dave,
Just thought I'd give you an update on my use of AS. I upgraded my 4Mb VRAM
Stealth 64 PCI to a 4Mb VRAM Stealth 64 PCI with hardware MPEG – the 'Video'
version that's maybe two months newer? AS works FINE now! It had problems
with the older VRAM, but not with the new VRAM Video! I'd have thought the
reverse would be true…

i might have suspected the need for new drivers, but new RAM being the
solution? wow. making a HUGE mental note on that one. thanks for this very
helpful tip!

No no no. I replaced the whole card with a newer version of the same card –
moving from the 4Mb VRAM to the 4Mb VRAM Video, the one with MPEG built-in. I
had the very latest drivers for BOTH, but the established card – the one that
had been on the market for a year – didn't support AS while the brand-new one
DID.
