#AP missing Messages
6 messages in this thread
Betty,
I had a new situation come up with AP. I had two messages waiting for me
in the DTV Forum, however , they were in a different section then where I
had been leaving my messages, previously. (subjects or sections) Once
again, I could read them in "hands on", but I could not get AP to pick
them up, >>> even when AP showed the message "You have 2 messages waiting"
on the communications window as it whizzed by.
1)I never did see those two messages, even though I highlighted the
section they were in, (after I had read them in hands on)…… why not?
2)Was it because I did not highlight all the sections in the forum?
( And if I have to do that, I will have to clog my hard drive up with a
lot of messages about music, IBM PC, Mac tools etc., I assume.)
3)Will I have to somehow predict which sections I will have replies to my
messages in? >>>>>Ala Karnak<<<, :), and then highlight those?
I am loving AP, but the manual is a bit sparce.
Thanks for answering those 3 questions!

The AutoPilot support area is in AmigaVendor Forum.
You might reread the AP doc.
If messages are left to you in sections you have told AutoPilot not to look at,
you want get them, whether they're to you or not. If you turn on the Read
Waiting option you will get them regardless of what section they're in.
In any forum, if you leave messages in an inappropriate section the sysop will
move them to an appropriate section.
PMFJI, but Betty helped me before on this question. Just select 'read waiting'
from the forum window and you will get your messages addressed to you even if
you don't have the section highlighted.

Let's see if I can help…
HW <<I had two messages waiting for me in the DTV Forum, however , they

This happens sometimes when a sysop or replier moves the thread or
messages to a section that they believe is more related to the message's
topic.

HW <<even when AP showed the message "You have 2 messages waiting">>
Actually, that was CIS sending the message.

To get your messages from unselected sections, use the READ WAITING option
of AP.
Enter AP's window where you selected No Messages, Get Header, or Get
Messages. You should see an READ WAITING option above the Clear "M"
option.
Clicking this option will tell AP to grad any waiting messages for that
forum, then to continue to on to getting the messages from the selected
sections.
Note that this will grab a message twice, if it is in one of your selected
sections.

Hal,
Look at DTVForum and see if you have checked "Read Waiting." If so, it ought
to pick up messages addressed to you regardless of the section. If not, then
it probably would get only the messages in the marked sections even if others
WERE addressed to you.
You don't have to highlight every section – just mark "Read Waiting."
The reason you didn't see them in AP after having read them in HandsOn is
because CompuServe does not show you messages you have already read. To do
that, you would have to come on manually and set back your high message number
so that it would be smaller than the number of the message you wanted to read.
Most people don't want to download a message more than once, so it's set so
that you won't.
