#Hyperbase

Barry,
We may be about the same level at CLI, because I had got just as far as
you took me (including printing out the manual, which didin't specify how to
run it.) After getting into the hyperbase directory, I typed "hyperbase" and
received two lines of messages:
"Printer Format file not opened"
"format file not opened"
There are two files in the directory with a .fmt suffix ("records" and
"mail") but the manual leads me to believe they relate to the different kinds
of data files in hyperbase. In any event I can find no "open" command anywhere
in my Amiga DOS manual.
I appreciate your response, and if this makes no sense to you don't feel
you have to leave another message. I put this up in view of everybody, because
maybe somebody will know what to do. If I do get into hyperbase, and use it
enough to form an opinion (I'm new to databases too, and am not sure what use
I'll make of it,) I will let you know what I think. (Presuming I donb't loose
your ID#.) The Fish disk it's on (#58) also has ASDG's recoverable ram disk
program, for which I have no use, but I do own their FACCII and it's GREAT.
Hmmm, have you tried
Hyberbase records.fmt<return>
or some other "thing" that might be on the disk?
One other thought, you did TYPE to PRT:-not use Notepad. I found that by
using notepad a lot of the text of some of the manuals was not there.
How about looking for pulldown menus?
Sorry I can`t be of further assistance.
