Um, well realize I know zip about the way the drives and KS interact. But
going on my assumptions, which is all I have… er… "upon which to go"?:
Since the Amiga STEPS the 3 1/2" drives every second to see if there is a
disk in place, it would seem that a patch (not necessary in the 5 1/4"
situation) would be required. How would one convert the Amiga's command to
"step the drive so I can see if anything is out there" to an appropriate
signal? I can't see a way, offhand, which is why I felt there would have
to be a patch.
Tell ya what, if you can make this puppy work on the 3 1/2"s with OR
without patches, I'm almost willing to guarantee you you'll sell out the
rest of your board stock!
It works without patches, and as far as _I_ know, works fine on 3.5's which
use the same interface as the 5 and 1/4's, don';t they? The board does
indeed convert the signals as required – you slap the board on, and the
drive works – period. If the 3.5 has the same interface as the 3's, then I
gaurantee it will work.
Ah, but they don't. The 'ready' signal has been replaced with a 'disk
changed' signal.
Well, there you go, then… tho I'm not sure how (if) ready was used in this
interface, likewise on the system drives.
