Price Increase???? What happened the RAM chips in the Interchange MOdules go up again? <snicker> BTW in the docs for interfont please put in a notation for TSilver users to be sure to set the objects to FACETS not Smooth. I got a picture today from Harv Laser with two objects from Interfont, and they were phong shaded. I re-rendered the cell he sent in both 24bit mode for the VD1 frame buffer and in normal mode, and they looked alot better as faceted objects. Our Phong shader can really mush out the edges.

You'd never guess who complains the most about our prices. Distributors. They say it's too low. They say they'd be willing to carry more product at a slightly higher price, and they're convinced we'd sell more, too. Also, Syndesis is gearing up in size, and we need to make more money. As for Harv's font object, perhaps he hadn't set the right flag, or reset what InterFont created. I'll check it. Can you tell me the sequence to use to make the super-requester reflect the current state of a given object? Be sure to send me the pictures! I'd love to see them.

The only things you have to remember about distributors, is that they really don't care too much about the retail pricing, as much as their percentage. We have some very large orders of Terrain going out soonly, and that is our lowest price product at $30 retail. You/Harriet also might think about putting together some bundles with a variety of modules at an attractive price. Anyhow, after selecting the object, (it turns blue) use Fkey 6 for "transformations" and Fkey 7 for Color selecting. BTW – Have you ordered your NeXt machine yet? From all I have read, and heard from a couple of friends who got invites – I MUST HAVE ONE NOW! I'm going to try and order a developer unit on Mon Morning early. If it really is all its touted to be It could cause some serious aggrivation for Mr. Sculley and crew (which wouldn't break my heart). <–SK

I just bought Turbo Silver at LA Expo… what is the latest release? 3.0? do you have an '020/'881 version? Why do the docs say that an '020/'881 can't really help (because "We have jumped this hurdle" ???) ? Can I watch trcings in progress in 3.0? What's the upgrade policy? Does Interchange… John, yu out there? does Interchange support TS now? <grin>. Do people always ask this many questions? Looks neat so far… – Keith

I've read a lot of stuff about NeXT. One thing I heard was that they weren't planning on selling it to the public, only to educational institutions. Also, to get a reasonable system, sounds like $10-15 grand, even with the educational discount. Sure, I'd like one… As for percentages, I've heard how low yours are. I'm astounded. Those distributors will do anything for money.

The percentages I gave was % of folks who returned warranty cards. As far as marketing goes, when you don;t have to spend <n>$ on advertising you cand factor that amount into pricing. The NeXt is indeed only $6500. not the 10-15K as rumored. I have a gut reaction that they are initially only going to deal with the education market, till the thing gets rolling, then it will be a free for all. I have heard that it will also be available to students, as well as institutions, which means it will filter through to the general public fairly quickly. Perhaps the colleges will the the beta test sites. THis is the poop I have on the box: .
