#Binary-huh?
3 messages in this thread
Hi all,
Somehow some of my Whap files that I had saved for later collation would
up as binary. Or at least this is what Ed tells me when I try to edit them. (I
may have renamed a .MSG file or something.) How do I get these back to straight
ASCII? Is the first byte reported by "type… opt h" the flag, the "1A"? I
tried changing it with Sectorama, but couldn't get it to update the block.
Help!
Karl
Karl,
ED is a finicky sort of bugger, but try this…start ED up, using a new file
name, then insert the file.
<esc> if !<path>filename>!
Be advised that this may not work on later versions of ED. When done, a
simple
<esc> sa !<path>filename!
will store it under the filename you say, or <esc> x will just store it as
the filename you've started ED with.

Doug,
Oooooh, sneaky. I'll definitely give that a shot. "Sure, ED, it's OK,
honest! <wanna buy an Isuzu?>"
