I was wondering what the difference was! The local Amiga shop carries the
IBM Plug 'N Print carts, so I had a feeling that they were the same.

Andrew, I must disagree with Jeff on the IBM vs. Amiga Plug 'N Print. The ROMS
are NOT the same. If you buy the IBM version, you will get an extra white line
between each pass of the printhead on graphics printouts. No problem on text
work. This was a well-known problem when the Amiga first came out (before the
Amiga Plug 'N Print became available) and I experienced it myself.
(Clarification – the extra white "line" is not the height of a text line, it
means a one-pixel gap between successive lines of the graphics dump. Still
significant.).

The "Amiga" Plug 'n Print kit I bought was an IBM kit with an Amiga 1000
parallel cable. It came with the IBM manual and a 5×8 slip explaining that
there was no difference between the two. The pixel wide space on graphics is
eliminated with my board by setting dipswitch 5 to 'on'. It may be that
Okimate later manufactured an Amiga-specific kit, but it wasn't doing so when I
bought my Okimate 20 (Feb 1987) and I have never seen it at any dealer's since
then.

Hmmm. Sounds like I'd better go for the Amiga-specific interface then.

With the IBM version, you get a disk with a printer driver to dump a screen to
the printer. This isn't necessary with the Amiga version, since Okimate 20
support is included with Workbench, but I think you may get a disk with sample
pictures anyway. In the Amiga version, you get an IBM instruction book and a
supplementary sheet that says, "No, you didn't get the wrong book", then goes
on to describe, in excruciating detail, how to change printers in Preferences.
