I have 3DS v4. The VIBCFG install program does not recognize my MGA IMP+ /P
board when I select the MGA driver 640x480x256 resolution. The VIBCFG pgm is
version 1.0.5. The error message is "Error 2301 MGA board not found. Is there
a problem with the driver? The "board info" diagnostics reports that it is
there.
Is the board by chance in an HP vectra UX? If so, it is a known problem. As far
as I know, the HP is the only machine that exhibits this problem with the MGA
card. Even though the problem seems to be inherent to the HP, it is a vibrant
driver problem. They are working on a fix. In the meantime you can use the
AutoCAD drivers that ship with the board. If you need help installing the
drivers, give me a holler here on CIS.

'Just curious; what's MST stand for? I know you used to be IDL, (Image

Well, first you need to run the acadrv.bat file. That batch file sets the
environment variables, ie rcpadi and rdpadi. Then run the vibrant driver
configuration. For main display choose RCPADI instead of VIBRANT, for render
display choose RDPADI and for materials display choose RCPADI. When you exit
the Vibrant configuration, the matrox configuration will come up for each
section, ie the main display, the render display and the materials display.
You didn't say which computer you had that matrox card in. Could you tell me?

One of my P90's started out with a similar motherboard: PCI/ISA/VLB slots. I
could never get the MGA card to work consistently with 3ds on that board.
Switched to an Intel motherboard with Neptune PCI chipset, everthing works
fine.

I'm having the same problem as Ken. My Pentium is NOT an HP, it has Award
BIOS. Any thoughts?
Steve, like I told Ken, you should use the matrox driver that comes with the
card, until vibrant comes out with a fix. Unfortunately, I have no idea when
that will be.

When the new driver is posted it will be called VIB3DS.ZIP on the forum. I
don't know if support for the MGA Impression Plus will be included, but I hope
so – it's probably the #1 wishlist item!
The driver is included in the latest MGA VIBRANT ZIPPED FILE. I
am using it now.

I think I posted this to someone else here, but here is my experience with the
MGA Impression Plus/PCI (4meg vram) and Vibrant drivers 1.0.5.p1:
p90 w/Award Bios + Opti PCI = does not work
p90 w/Ami Bios + Intel PCI = works fine
Since I have the board working fine with the "MGA" Vibrant driver in all
resolutions and color depths, the problem would seem to be some PCI/bios
combination.
