#Benguiat & good type

Yeah. I understand that RSG doesn't get along to well with Linos. Too bad. I
didn't realize that you could only type in values for the kerning table editor,
but frankly, I'd rather use a utility such as LettrTuck which works on the
width tables of the FOND, so I'd get the benefits thoughout the system. If I
had the time and energy and know-how to do a decent job editing kerning tables,
which I don't.
At least DesignStudio has a preview capability. And the tracking tables are
nice.
I hope they don't screw this one up, either. It could be a very interesting
product.
Wowee, Eric – could you imagine the headaches created for a service bureau if
each client messed around with their own FOND kern values? Ouch! LettrTuck
should only be allowed to be used by special dispensation from the
Pope…<grin>.
Seriously, it is my feeling that kerning values different from what is released
by the font vendor should always be contained within the document file, even if
applied globally.
…mm
I understand your feelings. On the other hand, whenever I send stuff to a
service bureau, I always make sure that I include a suitcase with the
appropriate font stuff in it, either with the job, or on file with them
somewhere.
You have to admit there's something to be said for the documnent by document
and system-wide approaches.
