Dear Earl, I just got my Fontographer 3.0 upgrade. At first glance it looks
very nice but I'l have to wait for my brother's evaluation (he is the expert).
First I'd like to say that I'm very impressed with your (Altsys') work. I've
seen a fair amount of software in my time and all your products are well
conceived and well finished. The old Fontographer manual had big problems but
the new one looks much better written (at first glance…). I also see some
user interface changes that make my chapter on Fontographer… dated. From now
on I will try to keep in closer touch with you guys at least to keep abreast of
new developments. I wanted to put this in the forum because I want the world to
know how pleased I am with 3.0. Autotracing and bitmap editing
(finally)…hooray! A couple of questions: Are the hints produced by
Fontographer similar to those used by Adobe? Is there any important difference
between the printer fonts produced by Keymaster/Art Importer and Fontographer?
I just bought keymaster from MacConnection but I now realize that Art Importer
is what I really need (the 16 char limit is too low, really). I can return
Keymaster if it does not suit my needs. Is it cheaper for me to upgrade or buy
A.I. outright later (soon?) Is Art Importer shipping? Others who may be in my
situation: take note. Blaise

Obviously your message to Earl was mistakenly routed to me. Earl Allen's CIS
number is used by a bunch of Altsys people (they have a forum in the APVEND
section, by the way, which has some nice Fontographer examples including a
freeware font called Crypt that's great for this Halloween time of year).
You might want to resend your message to them in case they don't pop back on
this forum before the messages cycle over.
