#My Resignation
35 messages in this thread
Beloved "All":
You may recall that several months ago I posted a message warning that my 76703
account would shortly be rescinded, and asking everyone be aware that I would
be continuing my sysop duties under my old PPN.
That is no longer the case. My resignation as an AmigaForum sysop has just
been requested and, as I see no alternative to honoring this request, this will
in all likelyhood be my final message as a sysop and/or under my current PPN.
As my finances are limited at this point, I will not be able to continue to
participate at my current level. I expect I will be checking in occasionally
in Arts, but more than that I cannot handle.
Friends, it has been a wonderful several years, and I've enjoyed getting to
know each and every one of you. The sysop work has taken a tremendous amount
of time, but it's been worth it. I wish I could continue, but apparently that
is not to be, and I must bow to the wishes of my superiors here on CIS.
Effective immediately, I will be reverting to my original PPN of 72177,3516,
and 76703,4253 will be reassigned to another user.
Love ya all,
Rick
Rick,
You will certainly be missed!! I do hope you will continue to drop in and
share your expertise with us.
Betty
Thanks for the kind words, Betty. If it were up to me, I'd continue to be here
as often as before. Unfortunately, it's up to the electric company, the phone
company, the grocery store, the bank holding my mortgage… 8)
I WILL try to pop in from time to time, but until I can stabilize my finances,
I'm afraid I'll be a rare sight here.
Love ya,
Rick
You'll be missed, Richard.

Thanks, Terry. — Rick
Rich,
Sorry to hear that your leaving us! We all know that you'll be sorely missed
around here. I've always enjoyed your quick responses to problems and fast
answers to people needing help. I hope you stabilize things quickly and that
you'll pop in here from time to time.
Take care in whatever you do,
chris
Thanks, Chris. You bet I _want_ to be here, and certainly will be as much as
is possible for me. We'll see how it goes.
Rick
Rick,
Here's hoping that whatever this mysterious new project is that you've
been slaving over will make you so much money, you can be on CIS as much as you
want, and that you'll have enough left over to pay my monthly bill too!
(My guess is that it's a MIDI interface for a pipe organ)
Karl
Rats, who told you! 8)
I never meant for it to be "mysterious". The thing was supposed to be revealed
to the public in late spring, and I started mentioning it shortly before then,
thinking that we'd all know what it was soon enough. Of course schedules slip
and problems arise, and now we're looking at a year-end release (which means
you should start seeing ads pretty soon). If I had known this was going to
happen, I would NEVER have said anything; I feel like I'm teasing everyone.
Oh well, at least we haven't announced-and-not-shipped. Let's hope it doesn't
happen, either!
Rick
Rick,
<snicker> Rick Rae's Toaster! I can see it now. Er, no, I guess I can't.
You said so little about the thing, I can't imagine that anyone would be
peeved at the few remarks you made. When an ad has officially appeared (or even
placed?), can you drop some pointed hints here, perhaps?
Karl
(An Amiga-controlled leaf-raker would be great about now.)
Leaf-raker? Hmmm… 8)
Rick,
It has been fun… here's wishing you all the best in anything you go for.
See you around the nets.

Sorry to hear about this, Rich. I've enjoyed your Aniga-pertise here
Thanks, Barry. Take care! — Rick
Rick;
I must have missed the original posting but from the comments that you are
receiving it sounds as though you are leaving us….. if so, then I also would
like to say that you will be missed. Though it seems that we have not
corresponded much since the forums split, I can certainly say that I have
enjoyed our exchanges and have considered knowing you to be valuable
experience.

Bill,
Thanks very much for the kind words. I've grown from being here too. I know
this'll sound corny, but there ya go: this is a special place, and you guys are
special people. It was great just being a part of it.
There's not much additional information there, but the original message was
68340 if you'd like to hunt it down. It should probably be here for a few more
days.
Best regards,
Rick
Rick;
No, it does not sound corny to those of us that have been around here for
awhile and seen the extent to which most will go to help someone out.
I probably missed it now (I was out of town for a couple of days). BTW, I got
#68030 and forgot to Cheer about it!

Rick, I look forward to your returns! I assume you'll stop by when 1.4 or
Unix comes out!

Rick:
Please get back as much as you can. I learned much on music, midi, the Amiga
and technical stuff in general from you.
Ray Lewis
Although I think you're overstating the facts (no, I KNOW you're overstating
them! 8), I appreciate the thought. Thanks!
Rick
Thanks, Larry. I've had a ball too. Wouldn't trade it for anything!
Regards,
Rick
Thanks, Larry. It HAS been fun, and I'm sorry it has to come to an end. You
can bet you'll be seeing me around… mostly here. Where else would I go? This
is THE place to be. 😉
Rick
Geez, two replies to the same message; two days out of the sysop seat and
already I'm getting senile. 😉
Rick
Rick,
So Long and Good Luck. Hope to talk to on Arts from time to time. Non
Illigitumus Carborundum (sic).
Rich
Rick
Sorry to see you leaving (who's going to do the formal COs now?). At
any rate, best of luck in whatever you end up doing. Victor A. Wagner, Jr.
Thanks for the kind words, Vic. I don't know who'll be doing the COs; Mom, I'd
expect. Any of our sysops are more than capable of handling the job, though!
Take care,
Rick
Vic,
I'm sure you meant your message for Rick Rae. It got to me by mistake.
BTW, Howdy neighbor.
Rich
Richard,
Yup, I thought I'd directed it the other way, but I'm not sure that
this new program I'm testing didn't make an error. After I saw it go out (this
'batches' replies), I went and tested _thoroughly_ the option to reply to the
sendEE rather than the sendOR of a message, and the tests worked perfectly, I
guess I just pushed the wrong button (sorry for the inconvenience).
Victor A. Wagner, Jr.
This is a test, should be addressed to Vic Wagner

This is another test, should be addressed to Vic Wagner

Thanks, Richard. My Latin is very rusty, but if I read that right, I
appreciate the thought. (And if I didn't, how dare you! 😉
Rick
BTW, I think it is: Illigitimati non carborundum est.
Sorry to see you go, Rich… I hope you'll be able to drop in occationally,
anyway…

I'll do what I can, Steve. Thanks! Rick
