I now have the information available that will allow "Transport Controller"
to control the new Sony laser disk recorders for single-frame recording. If
anyone has the need for it, I will go ahead and add support for them. The price
for the new libraries will be modest, namely free.

Mike, which model is this Sony and how much does it cost? What's the

The model is the LVR-5000. Write-once, 4.5mHz color BW, 48dB S/N, audio is
PCM, up to 20 minutes of NTSC video & audio. I don't know the cost; I think
it's around $20K. It was being shown at the NY Video Expo two weeks ago, but I
was too busy in the booth. I was told that it looked very good. —Mike
Wha? Sony Laser Disk Recorders? As in consumer level stuff? I wasn't aware
there even were such things… How much are they selling for? And can normal
Laser Disk players play disks produced on the recorders?

Nope. Just talked to a Pioneer rep today. Sony's format is proprietary.
Pioneer still hasn't come up with a recordable disk of its own. –Rick
