Can someone fill in the details of MutualExclude with respect to Gadgets. I have created a window with a linked list of 4 gadgets all of which are supposed to be mutually excluded, but I can't seem to get the mutual excludes to work the way they are documented. Otherwise the gadgets work just fine. I do have them set as TOGGLESELECT and the image toggles each time they are clicked on. It just wont unselect the other gadgets. Is there anything special that I need to do. I would appreciate any information on this. Ronn Black 76376,3342

Ronn, Yes, mutual exclude has been defined to be non operational since 1.0. There is purportedly some code 'out there somewhere' which DOES implement this (in the application program) tho. Larry Phillips mentioned it to me…mayhaps he will step in and provide the location. Victor A. Wagner, Jr.

If you read the RKMs carefully (Libraries and Devices, to be specific), mutual exclusion has never been supported by the OS (makes you wonder why they document an unimplimented functoin to such detail!). In essence, you'll have to roll your own mutual exclusion mechanism. -Mike

Thanks for the info, based on what I have seen it is DEFINATELY NOT IMPLEMENTED. I think I can handle the mutual exclusion code without any problems, it just would be nice if the OS would take care of it for you. As for looking in the RKMs, I dont have them, but every other peice of documentation talks like they work, So I guess a little pencil note will go in the margin on those things. Thanks again for the info. Ronn Black
