To All, Help on A3000 I was wondering if anyone knows of anyway to slow down an Amiga 3000 to equal the clock rate of a stock 500. As you can imagine, playing some arcade games on a 3000 can be difficult expecially something like Wings where your biplane reacts more like an F-16 Falcon than a WWI fighter. While I dont play many games there are a few I do tend to enjoy and its difficult on the 3000 I would like to hope there is a software approach to resolve this problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Rick

Several C= engineers have said there's no practical way to get a 3000 working at the same speed as a stock 500/1000/2000. Beyond the clock speed there are other problems (like the fact that memory accesses are 32-bits at a time) that make it very difficult to get the speeds to really be close. Kludges such as running a CPU-hogging program inthe background have been suggested, but that'll only get you a very rough approximation of the necessary speed. The most realistic solution is to wait for the software developers to rev their games to work on a 3000, or to buy a 500 for game playing. -Mike

Richard, Gee, even new programs coming out don't seem to understand that processors come in different speeds, hunh? Sigh…… I was hoping that programmers would have learned by now that processors are _always_ gonna get faster and write the code accordingly. After all, there are some stable clocks in the Amiga, and it's not like they aren't documented. Victor A. Wagner, Jr.
