JohnPowerbuilder is just a database front end if I remember correctly. I really liked it for that purpose but the cost is a bit high. We're seeing some interest in Smalltalk and other OOP languages. I can't imagine production code in Smalltalk. I'm not so sure about VB either but we have a prototype that will actually go out to users in a small site. Jeff There is 1 Reply.

Jeff, >>Powerbuilder is just a database front end Yeah, I know. Unfortunately, some of the "corporate types" I deal with don't know the difference between a db front end and a programming environment. Actually, I think they do. They just prefer underpowered expensive environments because it both prevents developers from doing things the managers don't understand and provides a built in excuse for late delivery. And expensive products don't create fleets of less expensive more capable developers. – JwT
