It's okay to beat a dead horse, but you're betting the wrong one. <g> Really, its a million times easier for the cad translator to make the faces, than for a program to look at arbitrary lines and guess at what the faces would be. You should be beating up on the Datacad folks. The Generic Cad already does this. -GB-

Would you do me a favor? Would you, Scottv, and Peter (?) please get together and sing the same song regarding Generic 3D DXF output? The following is a quote from a previous message from Scottv (sorry Scott!): "When we start to get into 3D entities then things get trickier. DXF has a 3D FACE entity, BUT it is limited to 3 or 4 sides at the most. So when we have a 3 or 4 sided Polygon we can convert it into a 3D FACE, but when we have a >4 sided polygon we have to convert to something else. I believe we chose lines because the main consideration was getting things into ACAD. And Polylines are a versitile entity which can be manipulated in a number of ways." Is there a way to bring a pentagon from G3D into 3DS as a usable 3d object? Thanx, LAM

Turns out I was wrong. ~I asked the wrong person at Generic when he was visiting, next time I'll ask Scott. Oh well, I should have checked it myself. -GB-
