Why are ST-506 type drives still being made??? Same reason any
other product is made…because they still sell.
There's still a VERY large amount of computers out there with HD
controller boards in them that need ST-506 type drives, and there's still
an awful lot of those boards being sold…along with new HDs.

'bunches' of them available cheap. (of course, IMHO they should be cheap)

If it is the 2090 and not the 2090A that you are looking for, I have one
recently removed from service. This is the one that uses an ST-506 drive
(have one of those too) and does NOT autoboot.
I would be happy to part with either or both. Drop me a line.

I have a 2090A controller it is similar to the original 2090 but will
autoboot with 1.3WB and later. Works perfectly. $40

Do you know if you can use 2 2090A controllers in one 2000? Isn't there a
reselection problem on the 2090A and the 2091? (This doesn't really concern
me.)

According to the doc, yes you can use 2 A2090(a)s in an A2000. You
simply address the 2nd unit by adding 10 to the unit number…that is: the
first ST-506 drive on the 2nd A2090 is unit #11 rather than unit #1.

I don't know if 2 2090A controllers can be used in the same machine. As
long as the unit number can be changed with a jumper? Heck, I don't know
as I only have one 2090A. Sorry.

Don't know it first hand but there is a 2 page supplement that came with my
2090A that explains how to set up multiple (shows up to 4) 2090A
controllers in a 2000. If ya need that info let me know.
