#VBMEM BEWARE!
2 messages in this thread
Be aware that VBMEM in this library may cause file corruption in windows!
After 6 hrs I've just now (2:00AM) got my system working again. I was
running NDW, Dr. WATSON, VBMEM, and working in W4W. It was the first time
I had used Dr. Watson and the First time I had left VBMEM running iconized
while using another major application. While in W4W the VBMEM icon flashed
through so I closed it. However when I began to format text the screen
would not update correctly in draft mode. Command boxes would fail to
erase completely and when scrolling the screen the text would appear to
jumble due to its not updating. At first I thought the problem was W4W so
I reinstalled it – no luck. I Worked my way back through uninstalling Dr.
WAtson, then NDW but still no change. Finally reinstalled Windows – just
executables and drivers and the problem disappeared. I now have my orginal
configuration less VBMEM running with no problem. Another almost disaster!

Ummm, you mentioned "file corruption" in your first sentence; what files
were corrupted?
How much memory do you have? Also, what kind of System Resource % are
you seeing with those other apps running? I guess I'd heard a lot of stuff
about NDW taking up a lot of resources, and one of the first systems of
an "overloaded" machine is hosed up video (did you see things like a
plain black box for a cursor?).
