#Video & Audio Capture ??

Do the low end Video Capture cards such as the Miro, Intel, or Fast capture
both the video and the audio that is recorded on the tape from my HI-8 Sony
TR700? If not how would I capture the audio portion of the tape?
Thanks in advance,

Rixon,
You have to have a sound card to capture the audio portion, but, the files are
saved together. When you load a clip into Premiere, for example, the audio also
loads.

Hi John,
Thanks for the quick answer. Do you have any recommendations for Video and
Audio Cards? For video I would prefer a card that can print to video using the
Hi-8 S connection. Also, what's your favorite tape that has the fewest dropouts
and glitches?
Best,
Rixon
A tip: Writers in New Media magazine (Nov 94) suggest that you capture the
video in one pass and audio in another, and then sync. You save 150kbs going
to the hard disk, which might help improve the quality of the captured video.
Most audio capturing is done through a dedicated sound card such as the
SoundBlaster or Microsoft Windows SoundSystem. You will need to dub audio only
through a soundcard and save the resulting captured audio as a .WAV file.
