Just saw on Usenet that they're appearing in Germany too — the people who want 2000s instead are pretty upset they'd put it in the 500s first! (Not to mention the 500s apparently have the ECS in them!)

Don, I am not sure about "nationalizing" ROMs, somehow I don't think that Commodore could be bothered to produce any more than one ROM for English speaking countries.Most countries in the world who speak English mostly use "American English" and its curious spellings 🙂 so even more doubtful that an "English English" !! version would be produced solely for England. Michael didnt say which part of Europe he was visiting though,so the question may arrise as to what they do for Germany or France etc.But as he says I am sure it would be worth asking around some dealers,especially in London.May even find a dealer who would let you have one out of a 500!! if he has one ;-). Paul, Right…I presume the ROMs for England are the same as the ROMs for the US and Canada (and other English speaking countries). But I thought he said he was going to Europe…and I didn't think you English considered yourselves to be 'Europeans' but rather just plain 'British' or 'English'. At least here in the US, most of us consider going to England and going to Europe two different things…although you could certainly combine both in one trip. Don

Don, Yes you are absolutely right about the majority of British not considering themselves part of Europe (but the Channel tunnel is making that a harder claim for us to make),I made the mistake of not realising that you American's made the distinction…sorry. I don't know if the ROMs are available in Europe as an individual item. The way I heard it was that new 500s had them.

I was in Paris until Sunday and only saw one store with a single grubby looking 500, although there were probably others around. I didn't have time to look for them. I'm in Geneva now and I'm not sure if I'll have time to look here, either. Probably best to wait to get back in any event, the prices are sky high here, almost 2x.
