Does anyone know how to get in touch with Anikin Research? (The folks who
made the Easyl graphics tablet.) One of the local Amigans needs a later
version of the driver software & asked me to check the nets.
Hi Jim, unfortunately I have bad news for you. Anakin closed their business
a while ago. The last version I remember was V 1.3 on the driver software.
If you are intrested to get this version, I'll be happy to upload this for
you after my return to germany. I'm actually in the states for the next two
weeks.

Thanks for the news, Andreas. We suspected as much when we couldn't reach
them at the old phone number. It was the 1.3 version my friend was looking
for. If you could upload that version we'd appreciate it.

Is this the company from Toronto? According to the next reply, someone went
out of business. Is that the company?

I'm not sure if they were in Toronto. They were in Canada though, if memory
serves. I just looked through my old AC's Guides & found that the Easyl was
being sold by a company called Inforite in California…. now I'm really
lost. 🙂
Jim: That company was in San Francisco. They once came out and demoed
Easyl to our user group. Apparently, they stopped carrying the product,
for whatever reason. I do have the address of the Toronto company around
here somewhere (good luck!), if you really want it. I will be out of town
this weekend for 4 days, so it may take me a few days to get back to you,
but I don't leave til Thursday.

Thanks, Susan. I think I have the Toronto address, I'll just have to look
around a bit more. It's too bad they've gone out of business, but at least
there are still alternatives. After using a Dakota for a couple days, I
think they're better alternatives also! I didn't really care for the
pressure sensitive pads like Easyl.

I still think the Summa is good, only thing I don't like about it is the
fact that there is a power supply.

Yes, the dangling power bricks are an annoyance at times. But some might
say that getting those heat & EM field generators away from the computer
was a Good Thing. 🙂
