I have encountered a very annoying problem in PPage that has caught me a
few times. After saving a document and exiting when I run PPage again and
try to load the doc a 'file is corrupt' requester pops up. Being caught by
this several times got me into the habit of saving the doc repeatedly under
different names. Tonight after running PPage and trying to load a
newsletter I've been working on three versions of the same file failed to
load. I have 2.0 version of the software, running on a A2000 with a GVP 030
combo board and a 80 meg drive.
Has anybody else experienced this problem. I even tried using a program
called 'fixdoc' that was uploaded by Gold Disk with no better results. Any
comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Wait for 2.1 (mine showed up yesterday, and I must say, even I am
impressed). I've run into the File Corrupt problem, even with 1.3. Hey,
we're talking about Gold Disk! "Why Ask Why?"

I haven't hit this problem for a long time, but I know several people who
have. I've had the 2.1 upgrade for a week or so, but of course can't check
if the problem has been fixed (although I am assured it has been).
Unfortunately, I don't know whether the problem is created when the file is
written (in which case 2.1 will now write correctly, but may not read
already corrupt files), or if it happens while loading the file (in which
case any already-corrupt files will load okay).
I'd be happy to run a "corrupt" file on 2.1 to check to see if it has been
fixed.

Paul,
I've only seen "Document is corrupt" when crossing versions and in 1.3
until fixdoc came along. Fixdoc did the trick for me. Haven't seen it
since. Though I must say, I haven't tried using any 1.3 files with 2.0.

I have some good news. Today my partner talked with Gold Disk and after
explaining our problem they agreed to FedEx a copy of 2.1 to us. They also
said the new version would fix the corupt doc problem. They also said the
new version would load the old docs that 2.0 refuses to load. I'll keep you
posted on the results. Here's hopin'!

Hi, The problem that you are experiencing is due to a problem in PPage2.0.
We have resolved this problem in PPage 2.1 which statred Shipping to all
registered users free of charge last week. You will be able to load your
corrupt doc into the new version. PPage 2.1 resloves all problems
associated with 2.0, and "Landscape" to dot matrix has also been
implemented. Expect your update soon. Should you have any further
questions please feel free to contact me via E-Mail or on our Technical
Support Help Line.

Darlene,
Does 2.1 fix the offset problem on HP printers?
…Denny Atkin
Yes PPage 2.1 does address the offset problem. However until Commodore
updates their drivers, we still have to contend with the limitation of the
driver only supporting a maximum print area of 8 x 10. There are a few
drivers out there that will allow you to print an A4 page. Creative Focus,
developes drivers for the HP series of printers. There is also a couple of
PD drivers available also. Please E-Mail me if you wish to have the
CreativeFocus Phone # or address for more information. 2.1 Has started
shipping to all registered PPage 2.0 users as of last week. Expect your
update soon. I hope that this info proves helpful.

Thanks, Darlene. I use DJHelper, but still got weird offsets with PPage
2.0. So with DJHelper and PPage 2.1, I should be all set, huh? Good to
hear.

Darlene, I have heard about the 2.1 upgrade from Mike Todd on CIX back in
the UK. In fact one of the main reasons I have just joined CI$ is to have a
direct line to yourself! As a heavy duty user of PPage 2.0 can you tell
what the upgrade path will be for us UK users? I really need to know
what/when/and how much. There are a number of problems I *need* to solve
urgently, and 2.1 sounds like it will do the trick.
The main problems I have are the holes in certain fonts, and the
disappearing fonts when using point sizes >130 and printing non-PostScript
Are these problems solved in 2.1? Of course the fixing of the corrupt file
bug would be useful 🙂 although I have to admit I have not hit upon it too
often, so I must be doing something right for a change.

Yes, 2.1 does fix all those bugs (including the corrupt file bug).
It's great – I just go mine last week.
Roger
Great! Now let's hope that we get to see it in the UK soon (apart from Mike
Todd who already has it…..grrrr! ;-))
Dave
Dave, Roger, Deny: Thought I'd save myself a lot of letter writing <grin>
Yes PPage 2.1 corrects the offset as well as no more corrupt docs and has
Landscape to dot matrix implemented. For the guys in the U.K.. If you are
having trouble getting 2.1, let us know.. if you do not receive in a couple
of weeks, let us know and we will make sure that you receive a copy. All
the best!

Darlene,
Should those of us in Texas have already received 2.1?

Darlene:
Got it – it's great. I wish I understood a bit more about how the fonts
worked.
I'd like to add more PS-compatable fonts, but I want the screen fonts to
look as good as the basic-35 ps-compatable CG set I got from GD. Are more
CG fonts available? Is there a way to make CG-type screen fonts from PS
font files? That would be a boon.
Again, PPage 2.1 looks teriffic.
Roger
Gold Disk sells a CompuGraphics font package that includes all the
equivalent fonts for the basic 35. There are also several other
packages with 3 or 4 typefaces in each.
Yeah, I have the basic 35 CG package. Got it for $99 when I first
bought PPage 1.x. How much are the additional CG sets? What's
available?
I understand that 2.1 will be shipped automatically to registered 2.0
users. Have you started shipping yet? I have not received anything as of
today.
Cheers, Paul (WA1OMM)
Gold Disk _has_ started shipping PP 2.1.
Did they ever give any notification or publish upgrade offers for
the existing 2.0 owners? This isthe first I heard that it was even
close to release?!
I got the 2.1 version the other day and it does indeed load the corrupt doc
files. It's also much faster. Thanks for the speedy service.
