#Toaster ADos changes?

I have been looking into buying a Toaster in the last few days, and have
talked to three vendors. All three told me something about the standalone
Toaster bundles that I found hard to believe. To sum it up, they all
claimed that the Toaster station uses an altered version of AmigaDos, and
that they would not run most Amiga applications. I believe that, since all
three are selling stand-alone Toaster add-ins, that they are blowing smoke.
Are they? It sounds pretty unlikely to me…

It is quite possible that they are not distributing the complete AmigaDOS
system. I don't believe that they are required to supply any more than they
are actually using to support their product.
While it is possible that they have supplied a modified (as opposed to just
stripped down) version of the OS, it is highly unlikely. I am quite sure
that NewTek has no desire to maintain multiple versions of their software.

The Toaster bundle machines have an ordinary Workbench installed on their
hard disk. Your vendors were lying.

Bob in Schenectady, here. Can you tell me which vendors you've contacted
for the Workstation? NewTek tells me that the closest ones are in NYC and
Buffalo…

The Video Toaster Workstations have a standard AmigaDos/WorkBench
system, but the Video Toaster Software is preinstalled to run to the
Switcher Interface as opposed to AmigaDos […just add a command to the
Startup Sequence]
Most Amiga dealers sell the add-in boards, since they already have
customers or inventory of the Amiga based machines.
