Hello, I have been working with IK alot in the past couple of weeks and I have ran into an odd problem. Sometimes when linking objects and then going into IK I get an invalid chain, eventhough it is a valid one. Then I can isolate the peticular part of the chain that is the problem, go into the editor, make a copy of the object, delete the old one, and then use the new one in the chain and then there is no problem. This seems strange to me, especially since, in one instance, all the part of the chain were copies of each other. Then in a slightly similar problem, I can create a heirarchy, and then go into IK and set everything up correctly and everything works fine. But if I than go back out to the 3D editor and adjust mapping parameters or add parameters to an object, when I go back into IK I get an invalid chain. Is there a problem with IK,… or a problem with what I am doing? Andrew

Hi Jonas, I can send a copy of the files to you. I will include a doc stating the exact steps that I took. Thanks, Andrew

Jonas. I was just working on another project, and I had an IK chain setup. I then went back into the 3D editor to adjust some vertices. I freezed some objects to work on the verticies, and when I was done, I unfroze everything. I went back into IK and again I got a message saying that the chain was now ill-formed. I reloaded the project, did the same manipulations and it did not occur a second time. I am really confused now. Andrew

*** Is there a problem with IK,… or a problem with what I am doing? *** There is a known problem with IK. I had trouble with mapping params killing the IK Chain. Also had the prob of copied objects having no IK Chain. You may also be doing something incorrectly but I doubt it. Joans will take care of you. Bill
