#AEHD drive & 2.04 ???

Has anyone had success getting the Applied Engineering High Density Drive
to work under 2.04?? I am the proud owner of the new ROMS and it doesn't
work!! I read about the problem and was wondering if anyone has solved it
yet.
According to Bug Bytes in Amazing a month or so ago AE have no plans to
bring out a new driver for the AEHD drive to make it 2.04 compatible
(thanks AE) and are considering pulling out of the Amiga market.

Considering that AE never got around to correctly implementing their serial
driver for their fax modems, and now stating they've no inclination to
update the driver for the AEHD, their rumored pull out of the Amiga market
is no loss.

I couldn't agree with you more. The fax software/firmware has always been
flaky and the AEHD is a shambles. I also found their tech support people to
have a very strange attitude. Why run a support BBS that never answers
questions or leaves bug fixes for its registered users.
I wish somebody would bring out some fax software that works with existing
modems…

Where did you get your ROMs? CBM, or your dealer?

Could be either. ROMs and enhancer kits are now available at dealers.

I got my roms from my dealer. Software Hut in Philadelphia!
Cool. We're hearing lots of dealers have em… ordered ours from our dealer
already…. many sets. :^)
Guess it's time to buy a tower… or a 3000… or something. :^)

We have had one machine running 2.0 for compatibility testing for a long
time now. However, no – none of the development machines, or work machines,
have been running 2.0; We much preferred to operate under a stable OS,
thanks. CBM cries wolf too much and too often, no one here believed that
2.0 would be out when they said, and sure enough, there were two _years_
where we were able to continue developing for 1.3 in a well-focused manner.
We never did break the rules on any application, so we're enjoying an
extremely high compatibility between our 1.3 designed s/w and the 2.0 OS.
Our position has always been that when 2.0 comes out for real (which it
just did last Friday), we'd switch to it lock stock and barrel. And we are
doing so now, ROMs are on the way for all our machines.
1.3 is dead. May it rest in peices.
