#Blinking Cap light

After I bootup my Amiga and everything seems fine until I saw my Caps
Lock light blinking on and off. Does anyone know what that means?
It means the keyboard failed it's internal diagnostics.
What you are saying is that my keyboard is bad? if so, what could be wrong
with it?

In addition to Don's comment… it is possible for the machine to
indicate a failed keyboard when in fact the keyboard is not failed.
Which amiga do you have?
Power down completely, disconnect any extra hardware, besure the
keyboard connection is clean and tight (ex A500 of course), boot from
a virgin workbench disk and besure that your AC power supply is
clean. If you have any EMI generating hardware around, turn it off
(ie: Celular Phones, some burgler alarm systems, Air Purifiers, and
the like). If the machine still flashes the cap lock key continously
then there is definately something wrong with the machine.
If, OTOH, it now works, you might want to try returning everything to
'normal' one step at a time to see if you can determine what is

I checked the connections and re-booted it and it still blinked, so I
attempted another re-boot and it no longer does it and I have not had any
problems with it since. Thanks for the reply.

This problem seems to happen to my 3000 every couple of weeks or so. The
caps lock light blinked 3 times to indicate some internal failure.
Powering everything down does make it go away.

I have this problem now and then on my A2000. Sometimes even a cold boot
doesn't help. Removing and reinserting the keyboard cable always works.

Interesting. I have never had the 3000 do that… now the 2000/2500, yes.
