I picked up a 4000 last Thursday, but haven't had time to play with it until today. It seems to only de-interlace the Workbench screen; custom screens either flicker if interlaced or show scan-lines if not interlaced. Can anyone tell me if I have something set up wrong?

Russel, I've only played with an A4000 breifly, but here's a few things you can try… make sure you have the DblNTSC monitor as the monitor in the devs:monitors drawer. And then, in (I think) the Icontrol preferences program, make sure you have 'coersion' (sp) set, also, from the 'Boot Menu' (hold down the mouse button(s) when rebooting) I'm not sure of the wording, but select the 'Best' option. – Keith

Keith, It's IControl preferences and the button you want checked is 'Mode Promotion'. You don't need to do anythng with the 'Boot Menu' as it defaults to 'Best'. Dean DKB Software

Dean, The documentation indicates Mode Promotion is for VGA monitors. I tried it using both dblNTSC and VGA_Only and it made no difference. However, I did not reboot after switching to VGA, and I have since found the startup-sequence does a check for VGA_Only. Unfortunately, in a case of perfect timing, my multi-scan monitor died. I'll probably replace it tomorrow and see if booting with Mode Promotion and VGA_Only does the trick. Thanks, Russ
