Gary and Co.: I have a suggestion for a future edition of 3DS but I'm not sure whether it is really as good an idea as I think that it is. I do a lot of segment animations because I need my rendering machine during the day. I often set it up to render when I go home from work at night and stop it when I get in the next morning. (In fact my machine at work is spending the weekend rendering again.) I try to remember to write down the rendering time that is displayed when I interrupt rendering in the morning but I will often forget at least once a week. It would be nice if there was a way to have 3DS write (actually append) to a rendering log. I would want the log to include the number of frames and the elapsed rendering time. It would be nice to include the time and date too. It would probably be best to make this rendering log an option in the keyframer – you wouldn't want it all the time, and probably never in the 3D editor. This would certainly help in accounting for rendering time, both for people who do this for money and for people like me that just have to account for their time with management. What do you think? Chris

I'll put it on the wishlist for you, Chris. Since it doesn't add raw functionality to the program, it's below many many other items, however. – G

Thanks. I understand that this isn't at the top of the list, but it might be a fairly easy function to add. I think that most people would base their charges for animation on the length of the finished sequence, but I bet that there would be a lot of people that would be interested in being able to keep track of the actual time spent on a job.
