To anyone who can help: We have a Novell network at our office. We share local drives via a program called 'Map Assist' from Fresh Technologies. It allows me to map in someone's local drive as though it were a regular network drive. This is how we share our erasable optical disk and our CD-ROMs. Here's the problem: Although DOS, Windows, and just about every application program we use has no problem accessing drives shared in this manner, 3DS does (have a problem). Although the remote drives are mapped in and ready, 3DS will not show them as being available for saving, retrieving, rendering to or any other option. It is very important to us that we get this working. It is the only real solution for massive storage that most people can afford. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it work? Leave a reply here or direct to 72701,1060. Thanks in advance for any assistance… – Mike Shaffer

One thing you might try doing is a DIR of any of the drives you want 3DS to be able to access, before you start 3DS. It sometimes happens that a removeable media drive is not initialized until DOS does a DIR on it. I've seen this happen with Studio.

Can you give me a phone number for 'Fresh Technolgies'? Does this give you 'peer to peer" capabilities? thanks, Gary
