Never mind the silly thread of Firesign Theatreism that I inadvertently started……..What I really want to know is: Is is possible to load an animation into memory (as in the Autodesk Windows Player) using only MCI strings? I see no such mention in the spec, but would love to be able to load a large (3 or 4 MB) .flc into memory to make for smoothest playback. RSVP Thank you very much in advance. Jon Swift HSC Software

Unfortunately, the MCI spec itself doesn't even allow for a preload of the animation file. There is such capability in our MCI driver either. Perhaps we'll come out with an "enhanced" MCI driver one day. We get a lot of requests for additional functionality with it.

Thanks for your reply. I was anticipating such a response. Please let me know when/if you have and upgraded MCI drivers. Thanks Jon Swift HSC Software

Jon – I don't deal with Windows much (if I can avoid it) but couldn't you get something like the response you want by setting up a RAMDRIVE for the animation to be read from? Or won't Windows allow it? (Or have you an insufficiency of RAM?) FWIW David Taffet
