#A3000 Price
13 messages in this thread
Just an aside. I was told by my dealer that the $1499 A3000 deal was
recinded on 9/30/92. Did anyone else hear this?
Thanks. Mark
Well, today is October 5 and I just bought one for 1499.00 and the dealer t
d me that that was the price until further notice. In his opinion, it may
very well stay there. (G, How many shopping days 'till x'mas?)
Sounds like good news to me. I was hoping to get an A3000 at that price.
It's more than enough machine for me.
Thanks, Mark (Via AP)
Mark,
I think it was the "buy a 3000 get a free CDTV" offer that was recinded
and replaced with the $1499.00 3000 offer.

Well, I really didn't want a CDTV anyway. Thanks for the info.
BTW, This AutoPilot has been a real fun thing. I don't know how much
cheaper its been, but I sure feel like I'm getting a bargain.

Mark,
I had been using Whap! for the last year before switching to AutoPilot
and I was saving about 50% AND visiting more forums. It makes a big
difference.

I could never get Whap! to work right, but AP seems to work like a charm.
I registered after 3 days trial.

I wonder if they were running out of CDTVs….

Actually, there was to be a "buy a 3000 and get a CDTV for free" deal…
IT was replaced by the "buy a 3000/50 for $1495 and get SCALA free" deal
(good until Nov. 30th, currently).

SCALA looks like a great program. I'm glad the deal isn't over. I think I
lust for the upgrade. My old A500's getting slow, and even with 4.5 meg
RAM and an internal HD (40 meg) I want bigger, faster, better. The A4000
is too rich for my blood, yet.
Thanks, Mark (Via AP)
IMHO SCALA is nothing short of astounding. Those guys have produced one
heck of a nice package there. This is one of the few C= package deals that
has had something REALLY worthwhile included in it.

Any bets that it gets extended over the holiday? Remember that they're
last "promotional" price just about became the official price after so
many people screamed about the 1 Jan price hike…..

What the dealer should have said is that Commodore required their dealers
to purchase their units (and get price protection on their current
inventory of A3000s) by September 30th. The program will continued to be
advertised until 10/30.
In talking with the Commodore Federal Group, so far, the pricing on the
A3000 is a promotion and not an actual price change. If it were an actual
price change Commodore would have to change the GSA pricing–this is not
currently being done.
So, this promotion may end, or it may get extended. However, at least
today Commodore says they have not changed the MSRP on the A3000, but
rather have a special sales promotion through October 30th.
At least, that is how I understand it–and I am an Amiga dealer.
