Hi, I'm looking for a cdrom drive for my 386sx home computer. Could anyone give me some opinions on Tandy's CDR-1000 drive? Thanks Cheryl

Cheryl, The Tandy CDR-1000 is the Mitsumi CMRC-1000, and if you can get it for less than $200, it's not a bad deal. The drive is also sold under the GenStar and Talon labels, among others. It's a low end drive but still is able to meet the MPC specs for a data transfer rate on 150kb/sec. Access is slower than more expensive drives, typically 700-800 msecs. I have a Mitsumi in my setup and it's performed well. If you'd prefer an external drive, DAK has one for $199 that looks like a good value and it's bundled with a selection of CD-Rom discs. Tom
