#Strange ADPro loads

I have a strange one here… I was loading a clients jpeg files for
conversion to iff24 for film output. After saving the iff24's to the hard
drive, I usually preview them to see if aspect ratio is ok but noticed
garbage (abrupt palette changes) in the image. I reloaded into ADPro but
got the message that there was an error in the body. Reloading the jpegs, I
saved them to ram: and reloaded the iff24 with no error. Suspecting trouble
on the scsi bus, I disconnected my cd and tape drive, and the
loading/saving problem vanished. Anyone have any idea how this can be?

I had the exact same problem when I added my first SCSI device, a SyQuest,
to my 3000. ADPro saved the image to the SyQuest but it was unreadable.
The problem im my case was SCSI termination, make sure that your last
device is correctly terminated. Basically the last physical device, and
only the last device must be terminated.

Hardware problems seem likely – make sure your termination is properly done
and all connectors are securely fastened.

I have indeed inspected and checked cables and termination as I had
problems before but all has been operation very well for months….then
this saving problem.
I bumped into a fellow from Cleveland that said something about having to
replace some roms in his 3000 to get external scsi devices to run properly.
Do you or anyone else know about any rom revisions to the scsi controller
in a 3000 that C= may have neglected to inform me of?
I am not aware of any rom changes which will affect A3000 SCSI operation.
Since your system worked fine for months, I would suspect that a connection
became lose due to little bumps and knocks. Is it working again?

Perry, I suspect that cabling may be part of the problem. After replacing
the main extension 25 pin cable that comes off the scsi port and
eliminating the need for a genderbender, the centronic to 25 shorty cable
can now go right on the 25 pin 6 footer and all seems well……..so far.
SCSI is so trial and error I am beginning to understand why folks say it is
an art an not a science!
BTW, can you give any info about the pending ADPro upgrade, especially if
it will *cost* anything? And is it true there will be FITS support?!?
