I am trying to create a simple flic rotating the fork provided with 3ds. No matter what I do (with or without cameras positioned) the tines of the fork are sometimes out of frame and the end of the fork is always visible. I want to have the end of the fork offscreen and the tines well in view with space to spare. I have tried fiddlying the camera positions, and even if the preview shows the tines in within the camera cone in every frame, I still get an entirely different framing during preview. What is happening? I am working from the keyframing module. Any assistance would be appreciated. Ali

Are you using 3D Studio release 2, or release 1? – Jack

Okay, if you're using Release 2.0, then the Safe Frame function will take care of your problem. It's described on page 3-47 of the manual. You're missing part of your picture upon rendering because there's a difference between the viewport representation of the camera and your rendering display device. The viewport is set for your interface display, which is usually different than your rendering display. – Jack
