#Soundboard advice

I would like to acquire a sound board for my PC and am wondering if this
forum has decided on the defintive solution. The board would be for gaming
and multimedia. I am using a G2000 386/33 with the Sony Laser Library. Any
suggestions as to the best buy would be welcome. If any vendors react to
this please indicate a FAX number as I am in Switzerland. Thanks to all,

You might try the Multimedia forum too (GO MULTIMEDIA) also you might try
some of the many game forums on compuserve.
John, the GAMERS forum would be a better place for this, as it's a never
ending topic over their.
IMHO, the current two boards are the PAS-16 (Pro Audio Spectrum-16),
and the Sound Blaster Pro (Creative Labs). The Sound Blaster has
better support for games and FM music, but the PAS-16 has better
quality digital sound. The SBPro has a non-standard CD-ROM interface
(modified IDE), but is very fast. The PAS-16 has a SCSI interface
for CD-ROM's. The SBPro is cheaper though, and is what I use.
Can you suggest a miniature sound card that fits into the SERIAL port? I am
already familiar with the Digispeech but need to use something with a
notebook computer and the Digispeech is very bulky. (I can't use the
parallel port for something like the Audio Port since the parallel is
already taken up with my CD-ROM drive).
I have yet to see any sound devices that use the serial port.

The only one I know about is a device called the DIGISPEECH. It works fine
but unfortunately is shaped like a small pyramid — very un-portable —
and is not battery operated.
Does on-line have a network (Novell) driver for CD-ROMs?
