Gotta say I love NT! I've been using Mac's and Windows for years, then I had this wild idea a few weeks ago, NT. Got it up and running (I have to say it's not the easiest task in the world though) and it screams. I don't know what took me so long.

Thanks, David. I'm chomping at the bit for a chance to try a really fast CPU with NT. Maybe in the next couple of months, as soon as I pay my taxes. S.G. Bailey Image Dynamics, Inc.

NT is fun, isn't it? I've been able to play with it on a 133 mhz MIPS machine, and it's truly painful to run Windows 3.1 on my 75 mhz 486 laptop now… which I *used* to think was fast. Of course, the 275 mhz Alpha we have in development makes the MIPS seems slow, but I intentionally do NOT play with that one… too easy to get spoiled rotten! <grin> Ben Williams

I know what you mean. I play at work with a dual CPU Alpha with each chip at 275 Mhz. Then go to my 486/66, and I'm the most impatient person on the face of the earth!

Nothing like morphing on an Alpha!

Got say where are the apps! For my understanding there are nill to null application for it out there. Plz, inform me that I am wrong! I would love to jump off the Windows 3.1 crash wagon! Btw, anyone run WT on a 604 or 620 (Mac)? Questionably, Robert

Well, there are some – we make an extrordinarily powerful image manipulation system that is available native for Alpha NT. Morphing, warping, fire, lightning, geometric distortions, rainbows, photometric processing, tons of special effects, files format conversions, animation production… etc. So "NULL to NIL" is a bit too much. 🙂 Plus I know there are 3d apps (Real 3D is available) and some others as well. –Ben …via AutoPilot

You can get a catalog of current applications for NT by calling Digital at (800) 344-4825 and press 2. Or you can receive an InstaFacts Fax by dialing in the US (800) 723-4431 and request document #1160, all other international locations dial (908) 885-6426 and request the same document number. They also have a developers line to receive information as well. I do not work for DEC, but I am a dealer of Windows NT/ Alpha workstation solutions for graphics and animation rendering. If you would like some more detailed info, Email me directly as to not increase the S/N ratio of the forum. Stan Shumlick 2 Tall Video Prods. PS. I do this more for myself, as I too have been bitten by the rendering bug! <VBG>

Yep – especially if you're using _our_ morphing software. 🙂 Stuff just flies. –Ben …via AutoPilot
