Brian, Thanks. Found ToolManager as Tool.lzh in sec 11 of AmigaTech.

Which version? I just got my hands on ToolManager 2.0. It's an awesome
little program — multiple docks, multiple-rowed docks, It can play sounds
with dock/icon/and menu items……
Has anyone uploaded this yet?

Brian,
yes…it's been uploaded, I (nor apparently the other sysops) have
had a chance to dl it and check it out yet…but we will soon. It should
be public within 24 hours.

I got TM2.0 in the UK and find it difficult to get to grips with. Nothing
like as easy as the previous version.

Pete,
I have to agree with you, I like the added functionality but find it
takes a lot longer to configure to get back the same setup I was running
with 1.5. I also have had a hard time to get the Dock items to line up
properly. it seems that you have to position each item very meticulously
or else it looks screwy, I liked the dock function in the old version
better in that it automatically lined up the items without any effort on
my part. All in All a bit of a shrug. Although I should'nt complain I
haven't registered it yet and it is way better than anything I could do. I
can't program worth spit.

Oh, I don't know…. Setting up TM 2.0 took me _less_ time than setting up
TM 1.5. Of course this is because I didn't have to take the time to draw
my own flipping icons! (I saved my best ones, and used the better ones
hiding in the subdirs.)
I didn't have any problem getting items to line up in this new dock. Ihat
I like about the new dock is that it will use brushes that are larger than
32×32. It adjusts the dock size to accomodate larger icons.
The annoying thing was that TM 2.0 fixes the # of columns when you define
the dock. So if it gets too many items, it sprouts another row. Sometimes
this isn't what I want.
I'm just happy that I can now spawn a new Shell window and actually get
the workbench path instead of the default "Current Directory, C:" path.
Kind of annoying to have a shell-startup that duplicates half of my
user-startup.

Maybe I am doing something wrong in setting up my dock items. I have
found that each item seems to think that it is it's own dock and I have
had to individually position each item very carefully to get them to line
up in the same column.
Did you specify a dock window name for each dockable item or what ??
Did you have the vertical item checked ?.
for some reason I can't get my items to line up automatically like they
did in the 1.5 version.
Other than this I am very pleased with TM 2.0 and can see intersting
possibilitys for the sound functions.

I think I see what you did……
I think you created one dock for each tool. Eek. you may want to try
adding tools to each dock by selecting the "edit tools list" item in the
"Edit Dock object" window. Then select "new" in that window and add
another tool. Add a tool, "OK" out to the main window and select "test."
The tool you added should appear as the second object in the edited
dock…..

Hi again Brian
Yes you were right I was creating seperate Docks for all my dock items
instead of one dock and adding the objects. (duh !!) It all makes sense
now, once I have done it properly. I had read and re-read that manual and
it still didn't click. .. I trouble shoot hardware and software for a
living, I guess I am just too worn out at home to do it the same way.
Thanks again

Er, you _read_ the manual? The only manual I've read in the last month or
so has been the SAS/C 6 manual. I just stumbled through the process (using
the "test" button after _every_ change until it worked.
