#Help! Mitsumi drive

I just installed a Mitsumi drive and I cannot get to work. when the
autoexec.bat runs it gets to the /bin/mscdex.exe line and tells me I have
the incorrect version of DOS. I am using DOS 5.0. I have tried setver
several times. I have tried 4.01, 4.0, 3.3, 3.2 and 3.1. What am I doing
wrong?
I am successfully running a Mitsumi drive under DOS 5.0. Could you give a
little more info on your problem?
What version is your driver? Are you using the DMA or non-DMA mode?
Did you change any of the defaults on the interface card?
Are you using any other cards which might be causing conflicts?
What other device drivers and/or TSR's are you loading in CONFIG.SYS and
AUTOEXEC.BAT? Are you using a memory manager/loading MTMCDD hi?
When the device driver loads, does it display any errors? Does the busy
light flicker?
Have you tried accessing a CD-ROM without the Microsoft extensions?
Grolier's encyclopedia (DOS version) is one example of an application which
doesn't need MSCDEX loaded.
I am running SETVER, but I have not added anything to its list. The only
problem I ran into was that I had to load MTMCDD before RCD, my Bernoulli
driver.
Stuart, chances are (before anything else) is that your using an older
version of the CD-ROM extensions. Just add MSCDEX.EXE to the setver info, as
DOS 3.30. Then reboot, it should come up now.
You would be better off downloading the file CDEXT.EXE from the
Micro$oft lib (GO MSL). This is the latest version of the CD-ROM extensions
and will work without setver under DOS 5.0, plus works alot better under
windows 3.1.

grab the file CDEXT.EXE from the Micro$oft library (GO MSL). It contains the
MSCDEX for DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1.
