A LAN version will be looked for BUT what happened in 1.2? I'm not really
trying to use as network just happen to have data files across LAN on the
optical that has more room. 1.1 worked fine but 1.2 doesn't. I'll
install again and play around somemore to see if i can find anything more
specific. I was a bit tired last time around.

I <looking carefully over my shoulder for the s/w license police>
installed a copy of 1.2 at the Server machine. That copy could access the
dbase on the optical normally but could not access dbases back on the
original machine.
Same symptom xxxxxx.sbv DOS can't open input file:
Again, I'm running Enlan-DFS over A2065s between 2 3000. Version 1.1
works fine, 1.2 broke.
BTW, what type of multinode license is going to be available with the LAN
version? Also will you support or coexist with Enlan? (FYI Enlan base
license is for 5 nodes nice number that leaves me room for expansion w/o
worrying about new s/w costs.)

Hello,
Is there any way in ELAN to mark files as shareable? On our Novell ACS
software we can mark files as shareable and then we could access files on
the file server.

I'll don't recall anything along those lines in the doc. Mostly ELAN
appears pretty transparent to my other software (except crossdos). But
remember, I'm not trying to share the file. I've only one user, they just
happen to be across the net AND this does work with 1.1.

Right,
It used to work, but it should not work. I would strongly advise
against opening the file on two workstations simultaneously. You can wipe
out your files by doing that. I would thank your lucky stars that it won't
open the files on both machines. We can do it on our ACS software by
telling the fileserver that the files are `SHAREABLE'. I cannot find any
reference to shareable files in the ELAN manuals, so I cannot help you.

No no no. I have one copy of Superbase (ok at the moment 2 but that's a
debug situation). The data files (including forms etc.) however happen to
be resident across the LAN. The only s/w actually touching the file should
be ENLAN on the server with Sbase working on the image of it presented
locally at the other Amiga. I don't see any reason this should require the
files be 'SHAREABLE'. I am growing suspicious that you however have
changed sBase so that it attempts to open the file in such a manner and
ENLAN rejects it because it doesn't supt that option.
It could be argued that ENLAN needs to add this support but since it's your
product I upgraded and stopped working, I'm following up on this end first.
Besides you just need to undo a recent change where ENLAN would be adding
features.
Whatever you changed, it apparently isn't needed in my current environment
and in fact breaks it until you get the net version running. I'ld stongly
suggest making this some sort of configuration option in the non net
version.
Also if you can tell me specifically what changed or talk to the ENLAN
folks directly about what could/should be changed in that software, it
would be appreciated.
