I'm trying to learn C and having a little difficulty. Can't get any
response from GADGETDOWN. MENUPICK and CLOSEWINDOW work OK. The gadget
structs look OK. Anybody have any ideas?
Two things to look for… do you have the IMMEDIATE flag set in the gadget
activation field? and #2, do you have GADGETDOWN set as part of your IDCMP
falgs? My guess would be #1, if you just have RELVERIFY set, you'll get
GADGETUP messages, not GADGETDOWN (you didn;t specify, but I'm assuming a
1.3 BOOL type gadget).

Thanks for your reply, Keith. This is what gets me, I do have IMMEDIATE set
and I'm not using RELVERIFY. One of the gadgets is BOOL, toggle the other
two are string. Intuition recognises them (BOOL highlights, for example)
but there is no GADGETDOWN response, even though CLOSEWINDOW et al do work.
Hmmm… puzzling. You might double-check to make sure all of your flags
are set in the "proper fields" (in both the gadget and window) ie… the
gadget Activation vs gadget Flags, and window IDCMPFlags vs window Flags.

I wanna thank you for your first answer; to save connect time I responded
withought really reading what you said. In fact I didn't have IDCMP flag
set. Had REQGAD, an example in the book uses GADGETDOWN in the NewWindow
struct but hey that was further along.
Ahh.. ok, sounds like you got it working anyway.
