#AFax problem

Hello all,
I got a problem with my Modem. I use a TKR 14400 bps modem V.42bis &
V.32bis, MNP-5, V.29, V.27ter and V.21. I am running This modem on my
AMIGA and the AFax-Software as a demo Version. Here is my Problem:
– the program starts to sync the modem
– and then it says "Trans. Error (DTE)"

Class 2 fax standards have not yet been ratified. AFAX uses one of the
earlier class 2 proposals and may not be up to the task of driving the
implementation used in your modem. I have heard reports that AFax will
work with the Supra modems, but I have personal experience with this. I
could not get AFax to work with my ZOOM 9624e.
You might try droping a note via Email on the internet to David

Actually, I got a copy of AFAX from one of our local boards and decided to
order the shareware version. Unfortunately, the Australian telephone given
in the documentation has been disconnected – so I'll buy GPFAX. (I got my
Supra V.32bis before the bundled package with GPFAX was available.)

I'm sorry to hear that about the C-Born phone #. It's been several weeks
since mt last communication with Dave, but for quite some time I was
sending him Email via CIS-Internet and getting responses from him usually
within 24 hours.
I'll drop him another note and ask about phone contact. BTW, why would you
spend the $$ on overseas long distance phone charges when you can use the
Internet?
Michael, you are wrong. The committee voted on the ballot and it passed.
It has now been submitted for official release (just a formality…) The
class 2 now being used in current modems will need to be updated as there
are substantial differences. Expect to see product upgrades by the end of
the year.

Great! Glad to hear that it has been ratified… and can't wait for
companies to start implementation.
I too am glad it has been ratified. It'll be several months before we see
anyone releasing anything on it. The people who have done class 2 based on
the previous ballot will find it easier to implement than those who chose
to stay with just class 1. I expect to see hardware and software by the
first of the year. Whether that is on the Amiga platform or not, we will
have to wait and see.
