I have nothing but respect for your products, as you folks really know how
to make a quality product. Maybe you want to upgrade the HardFrame to
SCSI2 and make a version for Commodore to use in the A4000? 🙂

I do *NOT* want to try to do full up SCSI-2 with that #@$)*& Adaptec 6250
chip. As it is it does a useful subset of SCSI-2, though. IMHO the only
other controller I'd consider is the 2091 for any machine with DMAable
fast ram. After that I *might* consider a TrumpCard. But I'd have to be
pretty hard up to settle for a non-DMA controller.

Hello Joanne- Please excuse me for slipping in here. I assume from this
thread that you are still using a HardFrame controller. I have had mine
for several years and it has worked PERFECTLY in my unaccelerated A2000.
I just purchased a new Supra 14.4K V32bis modem and boy was I
surprised when I tried downloading at the fast speed. When ever my telecom
pgm (tried several using CTS/RTS handshaking) wrote to the HardFrame and
Quantum drive I got Zmodem CRC errors ;^(
I can get it to work if I set the MaxTransfer down from 130K to
1024!!! bytes; but that drops my HD disk speed from over 500K down to 100K
;^( Not acceptble; like driving your sports car all the time in 1st gear.
I noticed that GVP has a patch pgm for their Series II Scsi that auto
matically reduces the # of bytes transferred at one time when ever the
serial device and HD are active at the same time. How hard would it be to
write one for the HardFrame??
I hope I am not destined to buy a new Controller card, buy a 3rd party
serial card, downloading to ram: or floppy (yechh!!) or buying an
accelerator (Probably and excellent idea)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'll bet you are….. Sorry. The Supra WordSync and IVS Trumpcard Pro are
two awfully nice controllers — and both are SCSI-Direct and RDB capable
now. The IVS controller is reputed to be one of the fastest Amiga
controllers made. If I still had a 2000, I'd have one of those….

Until now my HardFrame has worked Perfectly. I did have a problem (when I
first installed it) with it and my 2Meg Commodore Ram card. Seems I had a
flakey BUSTER CHIP. Boy that was a REAL tough one to track down but with
the help of a few good people here on CIS (the dealers didn't even want to
attempt to fix the problem-was very intermittent and hard to track down) I
managed to get it going perfectly.
At the time the HardFrame seemed like the best. Do you have any
experience with the IVS TrumpCard Pro? Is it a DMA controller? if so might
it have problems like the HardFrame and GVP's series II controllers?
Maybe it's time to get myself one of those 68030 accel + SCSI combo's
and bring myself a little more up to date.

I have never used the IVS TC Pro, but their Trumpcard was — and is —
rock-solid. It worked flawlessly for me for 2 years in an A500 expansion
box.

download our MBRTest-2 program from our CIS library in AmigaVendor.
[MBRTest is our commercial memory test program which we've released
recently as "freeware" to all Amiga owners].

If the ZIII scsi board also happens to have one of the new single-chip
ethernet interfaces on it, well, I won't complain.
Thr RAM test software is a life-saver. After installing 4 more megs of RAM
in my 3000, I needed a good test program badly. Your program arrived just
in time….
