#Beta-Testers Needed!

I am looking for suggestions. My company is very close to releasing its
powerful multimedia development package. Before we begin selling our
software, we'd like to see it in the hands of at least a hundred or so
beta-testers. My question is – How do I go about finding 100 qualified
users who will push our product to its limits and provide us with valuable
feedback. This is the first time we will sell a product nationally and the
first time we will issue a beta-release of our software.
Any suggestions <smile> would be greatly appreciated!

You've probably got at least 100 replys by now! <grin> Have you posted
this message on the MultiMedia forum and the Mac HyperMedia forum? Also,
it would be helpful to know what platform your product supports and what
the system requirements are. That would avoid some replies from obviously
UNqualified respondants. (BTW, I've done some beta testing for several
companies, and MM is one of my primary interests, and I have both Mac & PC
MM capabilities — hint, hint, hint!)

I'm a multimedia developer, but I'd like more info on your product before
making a commitment. Learning a new authoring package is not a trivial
task (or perhaps yours is different?). What platform(s) are you running
on?

FYI, several years back, Mike Wiener from Microlytics, Inc., posted notices
in the Journalism Forum on CIS asking for reviewers to test his program,
Word Finder. No strings. He would send a copy to whoever asked, once they
provided some proof that they were published writers with some kind of
media. And all he asked for was that the reviewers send him a copy of
anything that was published about the program. I don't know how many takers
he got, but it wasn't long after that Word Finder became something of a
household word among writer types and the built-in online thesaurus in
several major word processing programs.
You could do worse….

Greetings, One place you might try is the Boston Computer Society. If you
were to approach them thru the appropriate sub-group, you could have a
number of qualified testers with the possibility of a single point of
contact. They have an info BBS at 617-621-0882. best of luck, george
WEll… as it happens I am evaluating several packages both for the Mac/PC
for some upcoming contracts that I have. I would love information on your
packager. If I think it can handle the work I am doing, I will send a
system configuration to you and we can discuss beta options.
