Got the IPAS Catalog today, WOW ! Only one dissappointment , no Menger
Sponges in the 3-D fractals, I'll get over it he said teary eyed —

Now that the catalogs are out, and the docs are at the printer, I can
actually take my first day off since August 6th. The computer's going off
tonight, and it ain't gonna get turned back on till Monday morning. What a
vacation!

The Menger sponge is a special case of the Sierpenski gasket. I believe it
can also be created using Barnsly style IFS matrices. A heavily recursive
3-D Menger sponge floating in space amongst a few asteriods would be a fine
arena for close quarter battles ,<sigh> brings out the Starfighter in me
just thinking about it. There was a movie at Siggraph a few years ago
called "Fractal Fantasy" that toured a giant Menger Sponge revealing
smaller fractal solids commuting through its corridors. Always dreamed of
doing something similar on a PC. Gave up trying to build the Menger
manually with Topas, couldn't figure out the proper IFS equation to do it
in Fractint for DXF export, I'm betting IPAS will allow me to realize this
goal sometime soon, someone wanna code this up ? Please, pretty please,
pretty please with Koch curves on it . . .

You'll be amazed at what the Silicon Garden can do! You might be able to
tweak one of the existing curves to do what you want, and it doesn't
require a compliler or anything else, just the book. "Check out" the
Alogrithmic Beauty Of Plants, by Prusinkiewicz/Lindenmayer. I say check out
because it's not for the non-mathmatically inclined. Besides, it will give
you something to do while your waiting on the UPS person.
