#printing gif file

I recently had the task of printing a picture of Mona Lisa for a project
of my daughter's. I found the gif file, could show it, but could not find
anything to either properly translate it or print it. Conversion to IFF
was terrible. I actually succeeded by moving it to my Mac side via
AmaxII+ and printing it there (perhaps the first thing I have been able to
do only on the Mac). My question, after searching files for ?hours, is if
anyone knows of a program for the Amiga which allows me to either print
out the gif file or rework it so that this can be done? Thanks.

What converter were you using? I have used both AdPro and ImageMaster
with a very high degree of success. In fact, I just loaded a color IFF in
to Adpro, converted it to grey scale… saved it out as a GIF, then
printed it using the PrefPrinter saver and it came out very nicely. I then
loaded the GIF into PageStream and printed it out, and it came out great.
Thanks to the answerers of my question. As I do not do art but would only
use an occasional picture such as this I was looking for a PD or shareware
utility of some sort (it was such a utility which worked well on the MAC
side.) As I could not find such a thing in the Amiga files I used a
program to save the screen to an IFF picture and tried to refashion it in
DMCS with very poor results. Are there any uses for gif besides just
viewing on the Amiga unless you have one of the professional programs?
If your going to alot of printing of pics, you might want to look into
purchasing ADPro (Art Department Pro), or Imagemaster. ADPro will print
to your printers highest resolution with 24bit accuracy, I believe
ImageMaster will do the same, but as I've never used it, I can't say for
sure.
