#FrameStore To PC…

I want to put FrameStores on a floppy (using CrossDOS), move them to my PC and convert them to other graphics formats. Anyone know where I can find a PC conversion utility that can handle FrameStore? I do it now by converting the FrameStore to JPEG on the Amiga, using ADPro. I have to use JPEG because that's the only one that will fit on a 720K disk. Unfortunately, none of my PC graphics applications will read JPEG, so I have to convert the JPEG file to something else. I would like to skip this extra conversion step by converting native FrameStores to TIFF, etc., directly on the PC. Jon Story

There's a shareware PC utility that will convert between many formats, including Targa and JPEG, called Graphics Workshop. They also have a Windows version. If you can't find it here, try some of your local PC BBSs. Also, have you tried hooking your PC and Amiga up via null-modem cable? You can transfer files at 19200 and it won't matter how big the file is – you won't have to downgrade to JPEG to transfer. I don't think it'll take much longer than converting to JPEG, writing to floppy, and reading on the PC.

Thanks, Harry. I haven't tried the null modem route yet, but it's a good idea.

Use the ADPro you already own. It has with it a Windows and DOS utility that lets you join together images that were broken apart onto multiple floppies on your Amiga. These are the split and join tools. That way you split a file on your Amiga, and join it on your IBM.

Hey! Now there's a good idea. I have to admit (sheepish grin) I haven't spent that much time with the ADPro User's Manual. Thanks for the help!

Althoug you could save as a TIFF file and split it up then join it on the IBM. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>>

Anthony, I think you're right about there not being any utilities for reading FrameStore on the IBM. But thanks for the tip on splitting and joining. I didn't know about that option. Jon
