IPAS/3DS3

I was wondering what the status was on shipping the rel.3 upgrades. I
was also wondering when the rel.3 IPAS development kit would be
available and are there plans to offer upgrades to the IPAS Boutique
packages.
R3 upgrades: They started shipping R3 boxes to dealers yesterday.
IPAS3 SDK: Contact Chris Allis for specifics, but we've got this on a VERY
fast track. VERY.
Upgrades to the Boutique packages: The only packages that need up dating are
#1 and #2 (for the image processing routines needing to be 64-bit
color-capable). I'll have those done by the end of November (exact date is
determined by how much time I take off over the next 7 weeks).

Does the 3DS3 extender reclaim memory once it's been freed? Looking at putting
3DS on our compute server, but can't have it suck up all the memory and never
let it go! LAM
I'm not sure what you mean. If your question is regarding whether or not Phar
Lap 5.x allows resetting the swap file back to zero without exiting the
program, the answer is no.

G,
How do I contact Chris Allis? I was told by a dealer that the shipping
of 3DSr3 had been pushed back until the end of Oct.
I was about to buy packages #1, #2 and #4. When I called the (800)
368-4727 number the sales person, I spoke with, didn't know of any plans to
upgrade any of the IPAS packages. I was wondering what the upgrade policy was
going to be. I don't know if I should wait until November to buy these
packages.
I don't know how you guys manage to find the time to respond to
questions as quickly as you do. I have to say that I have been very pleased
with the prompt responses that I have received from everyone on this forum.
This has to be the best forum that I have ever been active on. This forum,
along with the quality and price of 3DS, is a major reason to stay with 3DS.

Your dealer's wrong. 3DSr3 has been shipping for a couple of days now.
Regarding the IPAS stuff… they'll all work perfectly with R3, exactly as they
did with R2. I'm going to be reving disks 1 & 2 in late November to support
the new hi-res color and gamma correction features of R3, but that's about it.
The upgrade will be free on CIS (via binary email) for folks who bought the
routines direct from Schreiber via the 800/fov/ipas phone number. For people
who bought via retail (and thus aren't on our database to verify order info),
there'll be a $25 handling charge to do it via mail. I'll be sending out a
letter to all disk 1&2 customers within the next couple of months.
Take care,
– G

FYI, if you call the 800 number, they sell at retail only. If you call us,
we'll give you a discount to much more than cover your phone bill!
Call me at (714) 833-0334 if you're interested!
