#Missing Backslash Con't

As per my previous posting about the missing backslash on my A2286 (newly
installed in my new 3000T <G> with janus 2.1 upgrade) I have also
discovered that the Janus system doesn't work (ie, AMouse, JLink, ARead,
etc.) JDISK.SYS is in the config.sys file but trying to transfer files
results in the message "JDISK.SYS not installed". Using AMouse results in
the message "Amiga could not load MouseServ". When the BB boots it says
the Janus library is installed.
Aside from the keyboard problem, etc. the system boots off the XTHDD ok
and seems to run normally.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check in PCPrefs to be sure you have the janus handler segment loaded
in the correct space. It should be set to D000. If it's set to A000 that
could be the problem with the janus software.

Shouldn't make any difference to the keyboard, though, I think.

Didn't know for sure, myself, so thought I might suggest a checkout. I recall
that I had a keyboard problem when I had the janus segment address misspecified
while trying to use the normal BB window under pcwindow. I was getting omitted
characters, but not just one specific character, and the characters were
disappearing on directory lists and such, but not from the keyboard. that was
why I thought of it.

Try Don Curtis' trick of rebooting the BB with PCreset, followed by
Binddrivers.

YES!!!
IT WORKS!. I had fixed the keyboard problem by removing all the files and
then re-installing the s/w.
Resetting the BB and running binddrivers fixed the other problem. Thank
you for you suggestions! Now I'm a happy camper!
BTW, do you know what BBSetup does? It only seems to crashes the system.
BTW2, How much is Crossing for Canadian subscribers? How many issues are
there?

BBSetup is only for the 2386, it will crash both the 2088 and 2286. It was
placed there so that 2386 users can get to the BIOS setup program. Since
it goes to an absolute memory location that is different on the 2286 that
is why it crashes the system.

I did not realize that BBSetup only worked for the 2386 until after the
product had been released. Otherwise I would have made sure that it was in
the docs.

Did you take care of the Docs? Hmmmmm. Actually, they are pretty good
with a couple small omisions. 8^) I would have liked some sort of
listing of the programs on the disk, their function and location. That way
I would have been able to determine if something wasn't in the correct
place, etc.
However, my main complaint was the installation program that didn't seem
to install properly (or rather, deinstall the old s/w).

Interesting, I wrote the Janus 2.1 install. I delete everything in the
Janus directory so the only way that stuff from the old install should
have been there, is if they were in non-standard places.

Hmmm.. I don't think I had moved anything around but it is always
possible. I also deleted and reinstalled the PC side programs so perhaps
that is where the problem was. Anyway, it's now working great.
