Hi. I'm looking for a good offline mail reader to use on compuserve. It will
have to be compatible with all the CIS message forums.

If you have OS 2.04 or later, go to AmigaVendor, Library 9, and download AP.LHA
– AutoPilot. It will do far more than serve as an offline reader, but it does
that job extremely well. It works with all forums on CIS, but not necessarily
on those areas that are not forums. You can write scripts for it, though, to
access areas that are not forums. AP.LHA is a demo version of the commercial
program.

Thanks for recommending Auto Pilot. I Dloaded the demo version and it looks
excellent from what I could make out.
I am however having a problem with it right off the bat. When I get my
connect signal AP says waiting for HOST prompt but nothing happens. Didn't
matter how long I waited.
I don't want to DLoad the docs and the rest until I know the program will
work for me. I'm running it on an A3000 with WB 2.04 and a Supra FAX modem.
Can you tell me also if the Amiga forums are the only ones usable with the
demo version or am I doing something wrong to set up another forum?

You really do need the docs to get started with AutoPilot. They give you
complete instructions for getting it up and running.
The demo works only with the Amiga Forums, but the registered version
works with all real forums on CompuServe, and provides a way to write a
script to visit a non-forum area of CIS before starting its round of
forums.
I'm not sure why you are having a problem getting past the HOST problem.
Are you calling through a regular CompuServe node? If not, you may need a
BEFORE script to get you through your network to CompuServe. You also
need your modem set properly. I believe (could have forgotten after all
this time) that you need to do &C1&D2&W.

This same problem has been reported several times before, me being
responsible for one. I put AP on a friend's 1200 and the only way to
get it past the Host prompt was to click the window to active, and
press the return key. The rest of the sequence would then be carried
out. I still don't know why it should happen, tho.
